A Concerning Reality Behind the Numbers

A series of new reports published in 2025 has shed light on a worrying national trend: large portions of the population still lack basic CPR and AED knowledge — despite cardiac arrest remaining one of the UK’s leading causes of death outside hospitals.

According to surveys conducted with thousands of UK students, parents, employers and healthcare staff:

  • 38% of UK students leave school without receiving CPR training
  • Over 60% of workplaces lack an employee trained in AED use
  • Only 1 in 20 adults feel confident performing CPR in an emergency
  • 91% of parents believe schools should provide mandatory CPR training

These findings paint a stark picture of a nation underprepared for emergencies.

Why This Matters: Minutes = Survival

In out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, survival decreases by 10% for every minute without CPR.

Yet the average UK ambulance response time can be 9–14 minutes.
Without a trained responder nearby, survival is unlikely.

What the Research Shows

1. Schools Are Still Undertraining Students

Despite CPR being added to the curriculum in England, implementation varies widely:

  • Some schools teach CPR annually
  • Others run a single session for only one year group
  • Some have no CPR training at all due to staffing or resource limits

This leaves thousands of children unprepared.

2. Workplaces Are Falling Behind National Standards

HSE recommends that employers provide:

  • CPR training
  • AED awareness
  • Catastrophic bleeding response
  • First aid for choking

However, many businesses still rely on outdated first-aid approaches that do not include modern life-support skills.

3. AEDs Are Underused Because Staff Aren’t Trained

Despite widespread installation in public places, AED usage remains extremely low. Research shows that:

  • Most bystanders hesitate due to fear of “doing it wrong”
  • Many staff lack hands-on AED practice
  • Misconceptions persist about safety and legal liability

Training Providers Have a Crucial Role

The shortfall in public CPR competence represents a significant opportunity — and responsibility — for training organisations.

Courses in High Demand Now Include:

These courses directly align with the gaps identified by research.

Public Interest Is Increasing

The release of the 2025 CPR guidelines, combined with real-world data, has generated new momentum for:

  • Community CPR events
  • School training days
  • Workplace safety upgrades
  • AED awareness campaigns

Training companies that align with these trends have an excellent opportunity to increase visibility and impact.

A National Movement Is Building

Charities, campaign groups and medical organisations are calling for CPR to be taught in schools every year, not just once.
Workplaces are facing new expectations to maintain trained responders as part of modern HSE compliance.

Training providers are ideally placed to support this shift by offering updated, guideline-aligned CPR and life support courses.

The Bottom Line

The data from 2025 is clear: the UK urgently needs more people trained in CPR and AED use. Training providers can step in to close this gap and potentially save thousands of lives each year.

You’ve probably noticed how health care is shifting right under your feet. Patients aren’t just coming to the office anymore; they’re texting symptom updates at 10 p.m., tracking sleep with wearables, and joining online communities for emotional support. This is where digital care providers step in: clinicians who deliver some (or all) of their care through apps, messaging, video, and remote monitoring tools. You’re not replacing traditional medicine; you’re expanding it into a 24/7, whole-person model that treats the body, mind, and lifestyle as a unified package.

What “Holistic” Actually Looks Like Online

When you work digitally, you suddenly have way more data than a 15-minute office visit ever gave you. Your patient’s wearable shows stress spikes every afternoon. Their food-logging app flags consistent late-night eating, and their mood tracker reveals a dip every Sunday evening. Instead of guessing, you can connect the dots in real time. You message them a quick voice note about vagus-nerve breathing when their heart-rate variability tanks. You adjust their thyroid meds based on daily weight and energy logs. You can even loop in a health coach or therapist with one click, as the platform already has everyone on the same dashboard. That’s holistic care that actually happens, not just something you scribble on an after-visit summary, which is why many doctors are now choosing remote physician opportunities rather than conventional positions.

Why Patients Love It (and Keep It)

People stick with digital care because it fits their lives. You’re the doctor who answers on weekends without making them feel guilty. You’re the one who notices they haven’t refilled their blood-pressure meds and nudges them before the pharmacy closes. Retention rates for well-run digital practices often reach 80–90% at one year, compared to the typical 50–60% seen in traditional primary care. Patients feel seen, not just “processed,” and that emotional connection translates into better blood sugar control, lower A1c levels, and fewer ER visits.

The Perks for You as the Physician

Let’s be honest—burnout is real. Digital care can dial it down. You decide your hours. You see 15–20 patients a day instead of 30 or more. Charting takes minutes because the platform automatically pulls wearable data, and the patient has already entered their interval history. Many digital providers clear 50–100% more take-home pay than traditional employed models with half the hassle. You’re practicing top-of-license medicine: diagnosing, adjusting plans, and building genuine relationships instead of fighting EHR clicks and prior-authorization forms.

How to Ease Into the Role Without Quitting Your Day Job

You don’t have to leap blindly. Start small. Add asynchronous messaging to your existing panel (most major EHRs now support it). Join an established platform one or two days a week. Offer a cash-pay “digital second opinion” service for complex chronic cases. Many doctors dip their toe in part-time work and scale up once they see the income and lifestyle difference. Board certification, malpractice coverage, and prescribing rules are now essentially the same as those for in-person care in most states; regulators have caught up.

Patients increasingly want a doctor who’s in their pocket, not just in a brick building across town. By becoming a digital care provider, you position yourself at the center of that shift. You get richer data, deeper relationships, better outcomes, and a career that doesn’t slowly grind you down. The tools are mature, the reimbursement is real (or cash-pay simple), and the need has never been more apparent.

If you care about practicing holistic medicine instead of just talking about it, going digital isn’t selling out—it’s leveling up. Your patients are already there. The only question is whether you’ll meet them on their terms and build the kind of practice and life you went to medical school for in the first place.

As a professional with extensive experience working on built projects, I’ve seen multiple changes in the UK construction industry in my two-decade-long career. Like any other demanding profession, the job of a site or project manager comes with highs and lows (more lows on some days).

But what lasts longer than any hardships on site is the partnerships you build with construction solution providers. When you have reliable providers for crucial and mandatory tasks like providing site welfare, the load on your shoulders tends to lighten a little.

I’m fortunate to have partnered with 5 such providers, who are the best in my book. Here in this article, I share my experience with their products and services.

1. Hireforce Welfare

Pros

Specialising in Welfare Hire

Based in Leicester, Hireforce Welfare is a trusted name in UK welfare hire. We first partnered with them for a project in Syston. I was the primary site supervisor, and because this was a small project, we had hired about ten of their 10-person Ecosmart hybrid welfare units. With tight deadlines, I only interacted with them briefly via email, but their team understood exactly what my project required.

It helped that their primary focus is solely on welfare hires, which is what they do best. We didn’t have to look anywhere else for welfare cabins for our Milton Keynes project because we were satisfied with their units and service.

Hybrid Range

Hiring their welfare units was akin to hiring a welfare trailer powered by the best of both worlds: fuel and battery. Moreover, I was quite impressed with the compact interiors that offered comfort with sustainability and functionality. The automatic generator switch-off feature saved us fuel while hot water was available, even as the generator was off.

Nationwide Delivery and Service

Anyone tasked with arranging site welfare knows the trouble they have to go through to transport the units on site when the delivery option is unavailable. I’m glad Hireforce took care of the delivery tasks for all my projects and delivered the units within the said timelines.

Quickest Setup Times

Setting up the welfare cabins can be difficult with some providers. But Hireforce has units that work differently. Their welfare units use hydraulic systems and can be set up in less than 60 seconds! This saved a lot of our project time.

Experienced Team

Hireforce Welfare is the welfare specialist division of the long-standing Hireforce Group, known for tools, mechanised and non-mechanised equipment, and small-access platform hire business. Speaking from personal experience, I think it’s better to trust a business that has built a solid reputation for decades in the same industry you’re working in.

Cons

Offer Only Hire

Hireforce only offers welfare cabins for hire. While this can be considered core expertise, it may also be a disadvantage for some projects.

Overall Experience

Both my team and I have had a great experience with Hireforce, with their well-maintained welfare cabins and prompt services going beyond our expectations.

My Rating

4.8/5

2. Welfare4Hire

Pros

Solar Units

We partnered with Welfare4hire for hiring 5 of their 12-person solar welfare units. It was small, according to my team, and provided all the different facilities it claimed to offer.

Wide Variety

Welfare4Hire offers a great variety of welfare units and services.

Cons

Toilet Emptying Service

Welfare4Hire offers a wide range of welfare and toilet units along with servicing options. In my experience, while their 12-person units were great, their toilet emptying service was not up to the mark.

Overall Experience

I had a good experience with Welfare4Hire, and I think they’re great for contractors looking for solar units.

My Rating

4/5

3. Garic

Pros

Quick Delivery Promise

Garic is a well-known site solutions expert, also providing welfare products and services for hire. Their USP allows you to either collect their welfare unit within 24 hours or get it delivered within 48 hours; either is great for getting a welfare cabin at the eleventh hour.

Range of Welfare Solutions

Garic offers a wide range of welfare solutions, from mobile welfare units to site tower lights.

Cons

Diesel-Only Generator Units

A good chunk of their range has diesel-only generator-powered units, something not too favoured with site managers like me who prefer an eco-friendly unit range.

Welfare is Not Core Focus

I felt Garic’s core focus is towards providing comprehensive site solutions, and site welfare can be a part of it.

Overall Experience

Personally, I liked Garic’s quick welfare delivery proposition and was glad they delivered on it.

My Rating

4/5

4. Wernick Hire

Pros

Solar-Lithium Technology

Wernick Hire’s solar-lithium battery-powered hybrid units were a good fit for our project sites that demanded greener on-site solutions.

Cons

High Rates

While their eco units are functional as advertised, they can come at a premium.

Large Project Focused

Their services tend to focus more on large project needs and less on small, short-term hires.

Overall Experience

Although a great choice for eco-friendly welfare hire, in my opinion, Wernick charges a premium compared to other providers.

My Rating

3.5/5

5. Norspace

Pros

All Steel Construction

We hired Norspace’s robust, all-steel units for one of our projects. The units were well constructed, especially because steel was a core part of the build.

Longstanding Name

Norspace is a long-standing name in the industry, well-known for its services since the 1980s.

Cons

Not Eco-Friendly

In my opinion, Norspace is focused more on the durability of their units on sites and not so much on eco-friendly needs.

Overall Experience

Our experience hiring Norspace’s welfare units was good, supported by prompt service.

My Rating

3/5

Summing Up

Ever since worker welfare was prioritised, I have worked with many welfare firms. You may think reviewing five welfare hire providers is a lot, but these are the ones I’ve had the best experiences with in my professional career.

The best is always subjective, so I always recommend you do your due diligence and assess your project’s needs before partnering with any provider.

With the ever-growing aging population of London and the more intensive demands of healthcare, home care services have become an important support system to people who want to keep themselves independent in the environment they know. It could only take a matter of the right choice of a provider to make the difference, not only to the individual under care, but also to families who want to know they can rest. Some of the best home care providers in London have been listed below, with a closer inspection of what distinguishes each of them in the provision of compassionate and professional care.

1. Cavendish Homecare

Cavendish Homecare is one of London’s leading private home-nursing and care providers, known for delivering tailored services to meet a wide range of clinical and personal care needs. Headquartered in central London and controlled by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Cavendish Homecare provides services including post-operative care and palliative services as well as dementia and mental care services.

Their model of care is based on flexibility – the adaptability to changes in the state of a patient, his/her preferences, at the same time taking the dignity, comfort, and continuity seriously. All the care plans are developed by qualified nurses and are backed up by trained carers, which makes the service to the clients and their families safe and responsive.

2. The Good Care Group

The Good Care Group operates in London and the UK in order to offer 24-hour live-in care that enables individuals not to relocate to residential homes but to stay at their places of residence. Their practice is based on professional standards and personal touch, which is usually backed by detailed care evaluations and continuous monitoring. The company is famous because it is concerned with clinical governance and the regular training of staff.

3. Elder

Elder is a technology-based home care company that provides live-in care services that help families find professional carers fast and in a transparent manner. Their web platform enhances the process of matching people with specific caretakers according to their needs or seeking ones that align to their condition. Elder services are the services preferred by flexible individuals and ones who would like to have a strong say on the choice of their care team.

4. Bluebird Care

Bluebird Care is also among the most well-known providers of home care in the UK, and the number of franchises throughout London boroughs is noteworthy. Their offerings include short visits per day to full-time live-in services, including those whose needs include the elderly, people with disabilities, and illnesses. The local offices of Bluebird Care allow closer management and flexibility of customers in individual communities.

5. Helping Hands Home Care

Helping Hands Home Care has a long history in the UK care sector, and it offers both visiting and live-in services to Greater London. Their staff is conditioned to cater to clients with complicated needs – both mobility support and high-level dementia services. It is underlined by focusing on uniformity, as the individuals are provided with the supporting carers who are aware of their schedules and likes.

Why Choosing the Right Homecare Provider Matters

It is not just a convenient choice when choosing a good home care service: it is an investment in safety, well-being, and quality of life. With the right service, it happens that:

  • Ultimate care is customized – based on the health, habits and comfort of the individual.
  • The level of support is also maintained regularly — there is no need to disrupt the constantly changing carers.
  • Families are engaged — through open communication and definite care plans.
  • Professional standards are achieved– with staff controlled, trained and supervised by CQC.

Through quality, responsiveness, and empathy, the so-called trusted providers like the Cavendish Homecare and others listed above ensure that the individuals can stay at home and have the necessary care they require.

Final Thoughts

There is no universal service of Healthcare- Homecare is not a homogeneous service- and in the city of London, with as much diversity as it has, choice and quality are important. Regardless of whether you need short-term recovery help or one that involves permanent residence, taking time to find out who to work with in terms of clinical practices, flexibility, and attitude to care could mean the difference between a good result and a more comfortable experience among all parties.
