Caterpillar Wheelchair Unveiled for Fans of the Famous Supermarket Cake

Sam AllcockBy Sam Allcock19/08/20242 Mins Read

A caterpillar-themed wheelchair was revealed today for fans of the famous supermarket cake, and chocolate-loving wheelchair users love it.

Invacare, a leading global mobility equipment manufacturer, unveiled their caterpillar-themed children’s Action 3 Junior wheelchair for the first time at a fully inclusive triathlon event in Windsor.

The Superhero Triathlon, powered by Marvel, saw over 4,000 people compete in the triathlon, with Invacare supporting the event alongside supermarket Aldi.

Cuthbert cakes from Aldi surrounded the wheelchair at the event, with the chair delighting attendees and drawing plenty of smiles and photo opportunities.

Leisa Evans, Global Head of Communications at Invacare, said the unveiling is part of the company’s commitment to enabling people to personalise their mobility equipment. Leisa explains: “We are proud to have unveiled our caterpillar-themed wheelchair here in Windsor, which has created lots of happy and fun moments for families throughout the day. We couldn’t have imagined a better place to showcase this, than alongside Aldi at the Superhero Triathlon.

“We offer a service called Unique at Invacare that personalises wheelchair designs, allowing people to choose their own style. The demand for this service is becoming increasingly popular.”

Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “Cuthbert has become a beloved character for many, and it’s heartwarming to see how he continues to inspire joy beyond our cake aisle. Now in the form of this amazing caterpillar-themed wheelchair, it was brilliant to see this unveiled by Invacare at the Superhero Triathlon.

“Aldi is incredibly proud to have been part of such an event to promote inclusivity and celebrate the superheroes taking part.”

Invacare continues to manufacture millions of wheelchairs for people around the world. “Every day we are personalising so many aspects of our lives from home interiors to cars and everything in between. We are excited to share this with the 1.2 million wheelchair users in the UK,” added Leisa.
