Sweet Cherry Publishing has acquired the worldwide rights to Sital Gorasia Chapman’s delightful new festive picture book, Little Spruce.
Kellie Jones, Commissioning Editor at Sweet Cherry, struck the deal with Becky Bagnell, Founder of Lindsay Literary Agency, after being captivated by Chapman’s seasonal tale. With world rights now secured, the publishing house anticipates that this story will become a modern classic.
Little Spruce tells the tale of a small tree’s grand Christmas adventure, leading readers on an exciting journey from the field to the family home. But what will happen when Christmas comes to an end? Where will our cherished spruce find itself then?
Chapman has created not only an enchanting festive story but has done so in the most inclusive, diverse, and innovative manner. Imagine Hans Christian Andersen’s The Fir Tree set in a contemporary context with a happy ending and non-secular Christmas representation!
Speaking about the book’s release, Chapman said: “I’m so excited about this book! It’s been brewing in my head for a really long time. The titular character of Little Spruce first came to me a few years ago when I saw a lonely little Christmas tree abandoned by the side of the road, and I just knew he had a story to tell!”
Adding to the excitement, the book features beautiful illustrations by Vicky Lommatzsch, allowing readers to immerse themselves in this new festive adventure, whether they choose to read it physically or listen to the complimentary audiobook, narrated by Santa Claus himself.
Little Spruce is set to be published on 26th September 2024 and is available for pre-order now.
