A new study has revealed which London boroughs have the most bars and are therefore the best places for students to explore during Freshers’ Week.
Experts at London Tickets & Tours analysed data from Bing Maps to uncover which London boroughs have the most bars per 100,000 people.
Each borough was scored out of ten based on the number of bars available per 100,000 of the area’s population. The boroughs with the most bars received higher scores and have determined the ranking.
Westminster is number one, with a score of 10.00. Westminster has 932.29 bars per 100,000 people, making it the best borough in London for a student night out. Westminster also offers 32 tube stations, some of which have a night service on Fridays and Saturdays.
Camden takes second place, with a score of 9.05. Famous for its music scene, Camden has a solid nightlife with 404.96 bars per 100,000 residents and on Fridays and Saturdays, the area offers a night tube service at some of its 18 stations.
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea places third, with a score of 8.62. The affluent borough, situated in West London, maintains 313.32 bars per 100,000 people and offers 11 tube stations which run a night service on Fridays and Saturdays.
Fourth is Islington, with a score of 8.53. The borough boasts 299.86 bars per 100,000 residents and has 10 tube stations for students navigating the area during daytime events.
Hackney is at number five, with a score of 7.85. The former industrial hub now offers 219.65 bars per 100,000 people and a night tube service following its recent cultural transformation.
Sixth on the list is Southwark, with a score of 7.77. Situated on the south bank of the River Thames, Southwark has 212.16 bars per 100,000 residents. A night tube also runs through Southwark Station for those exploring the lively area on Friday and Saturday nights.
Hammersmith and Fulham places seventh, with a score of 7.68. Home to both the Fulham and Chelsea Football Clubs, Hammersmith and Fulham offers 205.13 bars per 100,000 people.
Eighth is Tower Hamlets, with a score of 7.32. Extending from the Tower of London to the East End, 179.65 bars per 100,000 residents can be found in Tower Hamlets and a night tube is available in the area on Friday and Saturday nights.
Lambeth is at number nine, with a score of 7.26. Home to the O2 Brixton Academy, Lambeth has 176.06 bars per 100,000 people for students to choose from and a night tube service at some stations on the weekend.
Richmond upon Thames takes the tenth spot, with a score of 6.82. 152.64 bars per 100,000 residents are scattered in the area, and freshers can use the borough’s night tube service, which is available on certain lines.
