Those are the findings of a new report by RTA Law, who analysed the latest search data to find out how many times places across the country search for terms like ‘How to dispute a speeding ticket’, ‘Speeding ticket lawyer’, ‘Fight traffic ticket’, and 1892 similar keywords.
The research revealed that London has seen the biggest increase in searches over the past few years.
From May 2021 to April 2022 the terms were only searched an average of 64430 times a month. However, this shot up to 90860 in May 2024 to April 2025.
That’s a record-setting 41% rise.
Greater Manchester came second, trailing behind with a 25% rise, and Kent third with 22%.
The West Midlands and Devon rounded out the top 5 with 19% and 18% respectively.

Regarding places with the most searches overall, London takes first place again with an average of 90860 searches a month.
West Midlands came second with 34710, followed by Greater Manchester with 32560.
West Yorkshire and Kent rounded out the top 5 with 26080 and 19340 respectively.

Euan Baikie, from RTA Law who conducted the research, said:
“Many drivers assume that once they’ve received a speeding ticket, there’s no room for debate, but that’s not always the case.
“While speed cameras and detection devices are generally reliable, they’re not infallible.
“Calibration issues, unclear or missing signage, and even administrative errors can sometimes lead to unfair penalties.”
What can you do to debate a ticket?
“It’s always worth checking the details of the notice carefully, including the time, location, and alleged speed.
“If something doesn’t add up, drivers have every right to question the ticket and, where appropriate, contest it through the proper legal channels.
“Being informed and proactive can make all the difference.”
