Prince William and Kate Middleton are officially the most influential royal couple in the UK, new research reveals.

Together, the Prince and Princess of Wales pull in 735,000 Google searches in the UK per month and fetch 2.8 million hashtags on Instagram, making this a combined total of 3.54 million Google searches and Instagram hashtags – higher than any other royal couple on the list.

The research, by dating reviews platform Dating Scout, compiled a list of the most famous royal couples in the UK and used Google search analytics tool, Ahrefs, and Instagram to discover which royal couple had the highest number of combined Google searches and Instagram hashtags – the most influential royal couple.

The top 10 most influential royal couples in the UK

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are the second most influential royal couple in the UK. Together, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pull in 507,000 UK Google searches a month and fetch 2.5 million Instagram hashtags, making this a combined total of 3.01 million Google searches and Instagram hashtags.

King Charles and Princess Diana are the third most influential royal couple in the UK. The then Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer (who then became Diana, Princess of Wales) in 1981, in what was widely considered the wedding of the century. Together, King Charles and Princess Diana pull in 284,000 Google searches per month and fetch 2.3 million Instagram hashtags, making this a combined total of 2.58 million monthly UK Google searches and Instagram hashtags.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are the fourth most influential royal couple in the UK. Together, the late Queen and her consort Prince Philip pull in 290,000 Google searches and fetch 1.94 million Instagram hashtags, making this a combined total of 2.23 million Google searches and Instagram hashtags.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are the fifth most influential royal couple in the UK. The then Prince Charles married Camilla Parker-Bowles in 2005. Together, the royal couple – currently, the king and queen consort of England – pull in 237,000 UK Google searches and fetch 1.3 million Instagram hashtags, making this a combined total of 1.54 million Google searches and Instagram hashtags.

King George VI, the father of Queen Elizabeth II, and Elizabeth Bowes Lyon (who, as the mother of Queen Elizabeth II, was referred to as Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother) are the sixth most influential royal couple in the UK. Together, the royal couple pull in 44,000 UK Google searches a month and fetch 373,000 Instagram hashtags, making this a combined total of 417,000 Google searches and Instagram hashtags.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are the seventh most influential royal couple in the UK. The royal couple married in 1986, and despite divorcing in 1992, remain firm friends and still live together at The Royal Lodge in Windsor. Together Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York, pull in 168,000 Google searches a month and have 101,800 Instagram hashtags, making this a combined total of 269,800 Google searches and Instagram hashtags.

Princess Anne and her second husband Timothy Laurence are the eighth most influential royal couple in the UK, followed by Princess Margaret and her early love interest Peter Townsend, who are the ninth most influential royal couple.

Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh are the tenth most influential couple in the UK.
